Scion's "United by Individuality" ad campaign along with all the custom accessories available for the 2009 tC can be a bit daunting to a buyer. Scion customers may even feel intimidated by the peer pressure to "pimp their ride." Scion has sought to remedy the problem with the latest iteration of the tC, the release series 5.0.

The previous-generation Chrysler Sebring Convertible was a mainstay of vacation-destination rental fleets. The cars were so numerous that you could pick them out from your airplane flying into Orlando, Miami and Los Angeles.

The old Sebring seemed just about perfect in this role. It was fine for a couple days of fun in the sun, but you never shed a tear when dropping off its keys back at the rental counter. When we arrived at the launch of the new Chrysler 200 Convertible in San Diego, we wondered whether the Sebring's successor would be better enough for us to want to hold onto the keys after our test drive was over.

You are no doubt familiar with the Transit Connect, the panel van that Ford began importing from Europe in mid-2009. You've probably noticed them in your neighborhood with things like custom cakes, cable companies, cat groomers and cleaning services advertised on their flat, windowless sides. You'll be seeing even more of them soon as the Transit Connect Taxi begins replacing the Crown Victoria in taxi fleets across the country.

Transit Connects are everywhere now. It turns out business owners were tired of only being offered a full-size truck or van for their commercial fleet needs, because in many cases a small, fuel efficient panel van can do the same job far better and more cheaply.

And sure, automakers have tried selling windowless commercial versions of their passenger vehicles before, but how many Chevrolet HHR Panel vans have you seen in your neighborhood? The Transit Connect has done a better job appealing to businesses because the precious cargo that it's purpose-built to carry are tools, supplies and maybe a six-tier buttercream-frosted red velvet wedding cake... not kids.

So what happens when Ford takes its popular new commercial van and creates a version for moving people? The result is called the Transit Connect XLT Premium Wagon, and it is not at all what we expected.

2010 Scion xBs receive two new audio systems. The base stereo becomes a 160-watt, six-speaker Pioneer unit with satellite radio support and a USB input. The optional Alpine unit keeps the six speakers and 160-watt amp, but receives a 4.3-inch touch screen, HD radio support, and multiple RCA outputs. Additionally, Sizzling Crimson Mica paint is added in place of Blackberry Crush Metallic.

Toyota created the Scion brand to attract younger buyers and to that end, they have been wildly successful. The model that set the tone for the company was xB, originally a renaming of a current Toyota model sold in Japan, it was updated in 2007 to better serve its American market. In the process, it grew in length by over a foot and picked up nearly 600 lbs. This plumping up of the model was not taken well by many of its fans. However, the changes do make the xB a more useful, more real car like vehicle. The new, larger engine also makes the acceleration more likable.

The Scion is propelled by the same 158 HP 2.4 liter four cylinder that powers the TC and the base Camry. It gets slightly worse EPA estimated fuel economy than the previous version, but it remains very respectable at 22mpg city and 28mpg highway. This is combined with far better acceleration than the previous iteration.

Driving impressions of the xB suggest that the changes for the second generation were a full success. At speed, the new model is much more stable than the previous model.
